An ideal solution would be a limited range of format options as part of the Properties page that appears when one right-clicks an item in the Content tree and then selectes Properties from that menu. I don't know whether that's practical or not. A quick look at MSDN and it looks like you'd have to handle paint messages for the items in the controls to set their attributes, which might be a lot of additional work.
