Would really like to see "Soul" or "R&B" added as a category option, rather than just a genre. R&B isn't a genre of rock, it's its own category, and should be treated as such.

Not sure if this is what you mean, but you can customize what shows up in the "Category" and the "Genre" fields.
Go to "View | Preferences" in the menus, then click on the "Database" tab.
The dialog box shows four buttons to the right, among them "Categories" and "Genres." Click on one of the buttons, and you can customize the entries.
