I started another database, and the images are there now.
I've compacted successfully. I failed to find the 'save' option. Are you referring to making a backup? I did that as well, and at that point, I received a prompt notifying me I must manually back up...
I'm sorry if I missed something. But I didn't see any help given. Just someone telling us, he knows how to use the program, and how many people he brought in here.

Try this....
When you click on the "scan media" tab in the tool tray, and the "add media files" window pops up, uncheck both "get info from tags" boxes, on the top of the list. Do check,...
yeah, no kidding...great tip Andrei. AMG has/had that same problem, however, I havn't run into it w/ the OCD yet.
