Parameterized search is based on Advanced search as Jazz_North says. So it assumes you are already familiar with the feature and know how to build search queries. It is pretty easy - for example, enter this query to search for albums released in 1997:Originally Posted by Jazz_North

and press Search. As you build query, notice there is a "Prompt" checkbox where you enter year. If you check that checkbox and do the search afterwards, it will prompt you to enter the year separately instead of using what's in search query.
