I've added a new CD to my database (Stephen Stills - 2CD - Stills/Illegal Stills/Thoroughfare Gap) using the Scan CD-Rom Drive from the Album Menu as it was not found on Freedb.org. After completing the CDs details - Tracks, label, genre etc I submitted individually the CDs details to Freedb.org.

I received the following email for both CDs (with different data for each) from Freedb.org:

Your freedb submission was rejected for the following reason:

Discid collision in category rock

Please fix the problem before you resubmit it. Only the first
error in your submission was noted - there may be others. If you
continue to have trouble, it may be due to a bug in your CD
player software. If you suspect this, try acquiring a newer version.

The rejected submission follows:

Any help will be appreciated. Have any other users encountered this problem or am I doing something wrong?

Yes. It's not unusual.
Disc ID's are not as unique as they should, unfortunately. So, sometimes it happens that you try to contribute with a Disc ID that already exists.
The message from freedb tells you that there is already another disc with the same ID in the rock category. What you can do (and what people usually do) is to contribute it to another category. If there is none in that category with the same ID freedb will accept it. That's why there are so many CDs appearently in the wrong category at freedb. Because there was a discID collision on the right one.
