Default Clean / remove album covers not in use

I would like to know what happens when I substitute an album cover. Let's say I have a crappy cover from Amazon (downloaded thru OCD) and later I find a really nice one.

I take this new, shiny album cover and replaces the old one with this one. What happens to the old album cover? Is it still in my graphics folder?

If so, it would be nice to be able to remove all album covers that's not in use.

I have the same concern. When I open the album cover folder, there are many covers that seem to be duplicates ...

I agree with the need to be able to purge the album cover folder as mentioned above. And could the covers file name be displayed on the Record Properties somewhere (this would aid manual manipulation of the cover files).

all new covers replace the old one in the cover directory. If there are 2 or more of the same covers that is because 2CD/3CD, etc. are entered. Each CD has it own cover even if it is a e.g. a 2cd-set. By default all covers are saved as diskID.jpg
