how can I add the date added to either the start page or the individual album page??

Hi, I'm fairly new to this program, but try this.
Go to View, Preferences, Database tab, type in "Date Added" in Custom field No. 1. Go to Theme tab, and place tick in Display Custom field 1, click Apply. Hit Ok. Any album just needs the Date added field copied from the Personal tab to your new Custom field in the Custom/Misc tab. Sorry, sounds long winded, hope it helps.

I wouldn't recommend that approach either. DateAdded tag is going to be available soon (matter of weeks), so the time you'd spend is not worth it.
