    Default Problems compressing database

    Hi,

There is an option to compact the database in Orange CD.

My database is currently 48MB and is slowing down quite dramatically.

I've tried running the compact database option and it seems to go through the motions but I always get an error at the end. It comes up with "Catastrophic Failure" for some reason.

I've tried this on both the current Beta v5.20 and the stable release v5.1 and get the same result both on two different machines.

Any ideas as to how I can make the database run a little faster without having to spend extra money on hardware?

This should be a sticky. You know how many times this is asked?

Go to Preferences.....Imaging.Store Covers in external files.

It will store all your Album Covers in a separate Folder in the same Directory that your Database is located.

Around 6000 Albums at 17.64 megabytes and she runs fine.

    Hi

I do have all my images stored in an external folder.

Initially, it was set for files at 32Kb and above. I've just changed it to 0Kb and it's goen through compacting again but has ended with an "Unspecified Error" ???

At the mo its 3483 entries and 46.43 Mb in size.

Should have "Store thumbnails in thre database" tagged as it now?
