Re: album rating and review
Hi,
We considered adding rating field in OrangeCD. Everyone I talked to about this feature said that it would be nice to have a drop-down box with 1, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2... red stars, with maximum rating 5 out of 5 stars, but now I am a little confused... Does anyone really use 0-100 scale in their ratings? I'd appreciate your and everyone's opinions on this matter... An example of site or person who makes such ratings would be nice too.
Thank you for bringing this issue in,
Andrei
Re: album rating and review
I created an access database to store my collection and I had a review/rating inputs. I initial setup a scale of 1 to 5. The problem I encountered was it wasn't a large enough range. In other words, to many albums were in the 2.5 - 3.5 range. Sure, I could of used demicals but I believe its easier to work with integer values. It also make calculating stats easier.
Here is the scale I use. I don't remember where I got it from.
Rating Description
100 Essential
95 - 99 Spectacular
90 - 94 Amazing
85 - 89 Exceptional, Will Likely Rank Among the Best of the Year
80 - 84 Very Good
75 - 79 Above Average; Enjoyable
70 - 74 Not Brilliant, but Nice Enough
60 - 69 Has It's Moments, But Isn't Strong
50 - 59 Mediocre; Not Good, but Not Awful
40 - 49 Just Below Average; Bad Outweighs Good by Just a Little
30 - 39 Definitely Below Average, but a Few Redeeming Qualities
20 - 29 Heard Worse, but Still Pretty Bad
10 - 19 Awful; Not a Single Pleasant Track
00 - 09 Breaks New Ground for Terrible
Re: album rating and review
I remember where I got the rating scale.
www.pitchforkmedia.com. I just made the scale 00-100 instead of 0.00-10.00
