What I would really like.....

My wife has just lobbed her old company iPAQ in my direction, so I've been playing around with it for the last few days. Now, I use OCD to catalogue my CDs & Invelos' DVD Profiler to catalogue my DVDs. I consider both to be "Best In Class" for their respective databases. One aspect to DVDP, is that there is a version that runs on a "Pocket PC", which I've loaded on Madame Mole's iPAQ. It synchronises the "master" DB on my desktop in the study with the iPAQ, so I've got a portable DVD database. (OK, so I could end up looking like Scott Adams' "Techno Bob" with all the electronics......cell-phones, iPAQ, iPOD etc.) I think it's a pretty neat trick, and even M. Mole is impressed. It would be nice to be able to do the same with OCD. So Andreii, if you ever run out of things to do with OCD .........

If you've got online access with your iPaq you could use MyGenres...

True, but if I'm online, then I'm most likely sat at a "proper" computer....in which case I can get at MyGenres anyway At the moment I export my databases to text files and just store them on the iPAQ. I did try exporting the DB as HTML but I think the iPAQ ran out of memory (expecially with DVDPM already installed!), so it didn't work.....

Andrei, I'm not sure if you've seen this suggestion. But it is such a good one that I'd like to second it!! I don't have a pocket pc, but it would be so useful to be able to run OrangeCD directly from either a portable hard drive or (better still) a USB micro drive. I have recently found myself working in an environment where not only am I traveling quite often, but also actually in our office I can end up working on any one of over a dozen pcs in addition to the two desktop pcs and laptop that I use at home. It would be great to be able to take my database with me and use it wherever I go. For obvious reasons my employers would rather I didn't load my own software onto their systems!! Cheers, David
