...but when I follow the links to 6.0.0.10501, i get version 5.2.0 instead.......

Try clearing your browser cache.
For example, in Internet Explorer, click menu Tools -> Internet Options -> "Delete Files" button on General tab.

Thanks for the response, I deleted the temporary files as you suggested, but when i click on either of the two links on the "Download" page, I still get V5.2.0 (file length = 1.86 MB (1,957,888 bytes)), which does not match the length stated on the download page (2,427,392 bytes), and when run, all the popup boxes refer to V5.2.0. build 7523.
The Player download appears to be the right size (1.49 MB (1,562,624 bytes)), and when run does refer to V6.0.0.
any thoughts or suggestions gratefully received!!
