FAQ: Moving MP3 files to another directory

I want to move all the MP3 files to another directory.  What problems may I encounter regarding Orange CD?
When I re-scan the directory will all the information such as artist birth date, label, notes, etc. be lost?
Any suggestions as to the safest way of accomplishing this procedure?

Thanks.

The recommended way is the following. First, physically move your mp3 files to new location. After that, select corresponding entries in OrangeCD (which may even be your entire database), right click and choose Rescan.

Select option "Just update the file names, sizes, times and bitrates". (Important! You don't want to do full rescan as it will be much longer.) Press Scan.

When OrangeCD reaches first album that was moved, it will prompt you for a new location. It will use first song of the album as reference. Provide the new location of the first song.

The rest will happen automatically. OrangeCD will continue rescanning remaining albums and it will deduct where they are located based on common sense and your previous input Smiley If there's any album that cannot be found, it will ask you again - but normally it will only happen once.
