View Full Version : Does the .OBK (backup) include covers even if...

... they are normally stored outside the database? Awhile back, I moved my covers outside the database for performance reasons, using Preferences/Imaging and then set the 'Store covers in external files if size exceeds' value to 0. But I've noticed that the .OBK files are much larger than my database - roughly the difference in size between the directory of covers and the database.

If the backup includes the covers, then I can stop backing up my directory of covers alongside my OCD database, and save some backup time and space.

Thanks.

Hi Balok,

There is a checkbox at the bottom of the Backup dialog box.

"Make complete backup (recommended)"

When it's checked, covers are stored in backup file. Otherwise, it's just the actual database file without external covers.

Ah, thank you.

I'd turned that dialog off using the Preferences option, which is why I never saw it. It *might* not be a bad idea to put that checkbox in the Preferences sheet's Backup property page for people who choose to turn that dialog off. Just a suggestion...
